Yes, Silk Performer"s SAM (Server Analysis Module) can monitor SNMP data produced by iPlanet Web Server with the use of a MIB file. The Netscape iPlanet Web Server has its own management information base (MIB) which is called netscape-http.mib. This MIB contains the definitions for various variables pertaining to network management for the iPlanet Web Server. These variables are known as managed objects. The iPlanet Web Server MIB has an object identifier of netscape 1 (http OBJECT IDENTIFIER : := { netscape 1 }) and is located in the server_root/plugins/snmp directory. To monitor the iPlanet Web Server do the following in Performance Explorer: Go to MONITOR SERVER | PREDEFINED DATA SOURCES | CUSTOM DATA | SNMP Enter the hostname of the iPlanet Web Server, SNMP port is 161 by default. On the Add SNMP Measures dialog box select "Compile New Mib" and browser to the MIB source file. Select the SNMP objects you wish to monitor and press "Add" Setting Up SNMP for the iPlanet WebServer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For details on how to configure iPlanet to provide SNMP data see Chapter 10 of Sun"s iPlanet Web Server Enterprise Edition Administrator"s Guide Old KB# 18898
