There are two reasons why this error may occur: 1. This error is informing you that some other application is using the same port as the Silk Performer recorder for its communication channel and therefore the recorder cannot use this port to record your client. To change the port that recorder is listening on you need to: Go to START | RUN | CMD Type netstat -a (This will return a list of the applications and processes running on certain ports). Please ensure that the port you wish to use is not in use. Once you select a suitable port number go to SETTINGS | SYSTEM | RECORDER | PROXY Select the proxy (HTTP or SOCKS) with the port number in the proxy error message and insert your new port number in the Listener Port dialog Click OK twice to close all dialogs Try opening the recorder once again 2. You have a duplicate "HTTP" entry in your SETTINGS | SYSTEM | RECORDER | PROXIES tab (see figure 1). (figure 1: duplicate entry) This duplicate entry references the same port number and will therefore throw the error when you start the recorder. To resolve the error in this scenario, you should simply delete the duplicate entry. Old KB# 18121
