Created On: 14 April 2011 Problem The installation of VB8.5 on a Windows platform is done successfully without an error. However ‘osagent’ failed to start with below message prompted. C:\MicroFocus\VisiBroker85\bin osagent The system cannot execute the specified program. Resolution VisiBroker v8.5 GA's oagent is a C++ application with 3 dependencies of MFC90.DLL, MSVCP90.DLL & MSVCR90.DLL from Visual C++ 2008 SP1. OSAGENT is built with Windows assemblies which is described in the manifest (embedded into the executable). The manifest contains metadata that describes assembly dependencies of the executable. Every dependent assembly has a unique identity. One of the attributes of the assembly identity is its version. For OSAGENT, it needs the 3 DLLs of Visual C++ 2008 SP1. In the Windows platform, where Visual C++ 2008 SP1 is not installed, the SxS Manager will not be able to locate the corresponding version of DLLs required by OSAGENT when requested. And that explains why an error message “The system cannot execute the specific program” prompted. The solution is to search and install " Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package " from Microsoft downloads site given below: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx Note: The issue is tested with VB8.0, VB8.5 on Windows platforms.
