Problem: When Data Express for Distributed Systems is installed on some 64 bit laptops a problem can appear causing the installation to hang. The XDB SQL Wizard remains in the memory a lot of time (hangs) and its status in the Task Manager menu is 'Not responding'. All components of the installation process are installed successfully, only the Data Express XDB knowledgebase is not installed. This problem does not happen when Data Express Windows Client for z/OS is installed. Resolution: When you find out that the installation process of the Windows Client for Distributed Systems on a 64 bit laptop stops and hangs a lot of time and ‘’Configuring XDB’’ appears on the status bar, then perform the following: 1. Open the Task Manager Applications menu and check, if the status of the process ‘’SQL Wizard’’ is ‘’Not Responding’’ and the status of ‘’Micro Focus Data Express 4.0 – Installation Wizard’’ - ‘’Running’’. 2. If so, end the process ‘’SQL Wizard’’ - the menu ‘’ ’Micro Focus Data Express 4.0 – Installation Wizard Completed’’ appears. See the attached file ‘’Installation_process_hangs.docx’’. 3. Press ‘’Finish’’ - this causes an exit from the Windows Client Installation process without any errors. 5. Stop the ‘’Micro Focus XDB service for DX 4.0’’ from the Windows Services menu. 6. Go to the folder C:\ProgramData\Micro Focus\Data Express 4.0. MFSQL folder exists. Rename or remove the current MFSQL folder. 7. Download and unzip the attached MFSQL.zip file in a temporary folder. 8. Copy the folder MFSQL from the temporary folder to the folder C:\ProgramData\Micro Focus\Data Express 4.0. 9. Start the ‘’Micro Focus XDB service for DX 4.0’’ from the Windows Services menu. 10. You can apply now the appropriate DE Update XX and work with the Data Express Client modules. Note: The attached XDB knowledgebase supports 128 bytes object names and you do not need to perform the command: xwiz40n /b ws4ddl128.sql Attached files: 3782.MFSQL.zip 3157.Installation_process_hangs.docx
