If you notice that Internet Explorer takes longer to launch or load web pages after you installed SilkTest you should check to see if any of the Java SSV Helper objects are enabled as Internet Explorer Add-ons. There is a known issue that causes Internet Explorer performance degradation due to the combination of qaphooks.dll and the "SSVHelper" browser object. The SSVHelper browser object is packaged with the Sun JVM. In order to resolve this issue you should open Internet Explorer and go to "Tools - Manage Add-ons - Enable or Disable Add-ons". In the window that opens find all the SSVHelper objects and disable them as shown below.   Once this is disabled Internet Explorer should run faster. Please note that the SSVHelper object is not a vital component of Java, disabling it has no detrimental effect (Java applets will still execute normally).
