Sorry to be a pain Anil but none of the above gets it working. I am using the stcmdex command on Linux, not Windows.  I tried escaping the quotes and adding the password but that didn't help.  I still get the strange netmon error. /opt/java/bin/java -jar "/opt/starteam-sdk-14.2/lib/stcmdEx.jar" describe task -s \"user:password@server:port/project/view\" com.starteam.exceptions.SDKRuntimeException: The command syntax "describe task -s "user:password@server:port/project/view" " is invalid. The parameter "" is missing or suspect. The netmon command should specify either 'start' or 'stop' Same issue in Windows... C:\ java -jar "\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam SDK 14.0\lib\stcmdEx.jar" describe task -s "user:password@server:port/project/view\" com.starteam.exceptions.SDKRuntimeException: The command syntax "describe task - s "user:password@server:port/project/view" " is invalid. The parameter "" is missing or suspect. The netmon command should specify either 'start' or 'stop' Still have same problem with stcmd on Windows as well. C:\ stcmd describe task -s \"user:passord@server:port/project/view\" Illegal command describe task -s ". The command processor is not connected to a target view.
